Can I Run X-Ray on a Lead by Hand?

Whether you can run an X-Ray Finance check yourself on a single lead, and what to do instead.

You cannot run X-Ray Finance on a single lead by hand in the dashboard. There is no run button on the contact, and no Run again button in History. X-Ray Finance runs automatically on the leads your rules pick, and that is the only way a check starts.

This article explains why, and what to do when you want a lead checked again.

Where you might look

  • The contact's X-Ray Data tab has no run button, in any state. It only shows the result, or the reason there is none. See Reading X-Ray Results on a Contact.

  • X-Ray > History lists every lookup with its status and cost, but its actions are limited to syncing a result to your CRM. See X-Ray History.

  • You also cannot check an arbitrary email address or phone number. A check always belongs to a lead who submitted your form.

Why there is no manual run

Every X-Ray Finance check rests on the lead's agreement, given on your form with the Privacy Notice shown, and the check passes that notice along. A check started from the dashboard has no form in front of the lead, so X-Ray does not offer manual runs.

An automatic check also needs the same things every time:

  • A first and last name, an email and a US phone number on the contact.

  • An active X-Ray subscription and enough wallet funds.

What to do when you want a lead checked

To check new leads, make sure a rule covers the form. Turn on X-Ray for the form, and keep the rule on Lead Captured. See Turning X-Ray On and Auto-Lookup Rules.

To find out why a lead was not checked, open the contact and read the X-Ray Data tab, or hover the status in X-Ray > History. See Why an X-Ray Lookup Did Not Run.

To fix the cause and get a check, the lead has to go through the form again, once what was missing is in place. For example:

  • Your wallet was empty: add funds or raise your auto-recharge cap, and the lead's next submission can be checked. See X-Ray Plans, Wallet, and Top-Ups.

  • The form had no X-Ray rule: add one, and new submissions can be checked.

  • The lead gave no US phone number: a new submission with one can be checked.

The 14-day rule

X-Ray does not check or charge the same lead twice in a short time. If a lead already has a completed X-Ray Finance check from the last 14 days, a new submission is skipped and the contact keeps the earlier result. The skip is free.

A check that did not complete (no result, skipped or failed) does not count, so the lead can be checked on a later submission.

Good to know

  • A check is charged only when a result comes back. A skip, a failure or no result costs nothing.

  • If a lead already has a check running, a second one is not started.

  • Results you already have stay on the contact, even if you cancel X-Ray.
